Turai Moong Dal Sabzi

               Turai Ki Subzi With Moong Dal
          Ridged Gourd with Moong Dal Sabzi

 

This is a very delicious version of turai at the same time very simple. In summers, this sabzi is frequently made in our household and you will be surprised that the people who don't eat turai as such,also like this. Why to wait,let's begin..


Ingredients:

  • Turai..1 kg.
  • Onion..3 medium size
  • Moong dal..2 tbsp.(soaked in water for 1 hour)
  • Green chilli..4-5
  • Fenugreek seeds..1/2 tsp.
  • Oil..1 tbsp.
  • Ghee..1 tbsp. (for tampering)
  • Cumin seeds..1/2 tsp. (for tampering)
  • Red chilli powder (1 tsp. For tampering)
  • Salt

Procedure:

  1. Peel turai,rinse with water and cut in thin pieces.
  2. Peel onions and chop them lengthwise.
  3. Heat oil in kadai or cooker(I use pressure cooker) and add fenugreek seeds(methidaana).
  4. When it changes its color to dark brown,add cut green chillies and saute for a minute.
  5.  Now add turai, onion,moong dal and salt and cook till turai is done. (I cook it till one whistle on low flame).
  6. Now on high flame,dry the water of turai,when done,it will start giving a nice aroma.
  7. Remove from the stove.
  8. In a tadaka pan,heat ghee.
  9. Add cumin seeds and when it turns dark brown,add red chilli powder and throw in cooked turai while covering it.
Serve with dal,roti and rice.
