Moong dal pulav or khichadi

                              Moong Daal Pulav or Khichadi

This is a very simple and light one pot meal for those days or nights when your stomach refuses to have anything heavy and spicy, plus it is delish too! This was very popular dish in my sasural and all the guests also cherished it.It used to be served with Heeng ka achaar, onion and lemon. There is a very interesting story behind the making of this pulav,I prefer to call it pulav!

My mom-in-law was an excellent cook and therefore she used to make the meals of the household, though  several peons and cooks were provided to my father-in-law as he was a judge. One evening, the whole family was going to watch a movie,so she asked the cook Altaf to make khichadi when the party comes back. Khichadi is very simple dish and as father-in-law loved it, she thought nothing could go wrong with it. When the party returned from movie, the so called khicadi was served on the table but hold on; what was it! My father-in-law was about to explode,Altaf requested," Sahab,ek baar taste to kariye!" And really the food was aromatic, tasty and light, then and there it was named after him "ALTAF KI TEHRI". But I like to call it Pulav. here is the recipe....
