Raw Banana/Plantain Curry
Bananas are believed to have originated up to 10,000 years ago and some scientists believe they may have been the world's first fruit. Alexander the Great saw bananas on an expedition to India.
Plantains are believed to have originated in Southeast Asia. These are more starchy than raw Bananas.
Ingredients:
1. Raw Banana slices
2. Onion, garlic and mustard seeds paste
3. Tomato- 1 grated or blended
4. Red chilli powder-1 tsp
5. Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp.
6. Coriander powder-2 tsp.
7. Kashmiri chilli powder
8. Fenugreek seeds
9. Mustard oil
10. Water for gravy
11. Raw mango slices or lemon juice
Method:
* Peel and slice raw Banana or plantain and cut 1/2" discs
* Shallow fry them.
* Heat oil in a pot and add fenugreek seeds and brown them.
* Add blended masala, tomato paste, all the dry spices and salt, cover and cook till oil separates.
* Add water and sliced bananas and cook for a couple of minutes.
*Add Mango slices or lemon juice.
* Serve with Rice and roti.
