Custard powder Halwa or Bombay Halwa



This colorful halwa is very simple to make and an attractive addition to your Holi platter. 

Ingredients:

*1 cup custard powder *I took vanilla)
*3 cups Sugar
*4 cups water
* handful of broken cashew
*3 tbsp. Desi ghee
*1/2 tsp. Color of your choice (optional)

Method:

In a thick bottomed pan whisk all the ingredients except cashew pieces.

Water should be added slowly and whisked well so that no lumps are formed.

Now turn on the flame and on high flame continuously whisk it till it thickens.

Add broken cashew pieces.

Add 1 tbsp. Ghee and keep stirring. 

After about 3 minutes, add another spoonful ghee, stir.

Add final tbsp. Of ghee and now the halwa starts leaving the pan.

In a greased dish, transfer this and refrigerate for at least 4 hours before cutting in squares.
