Hari Matar or Green Peas Paratha
Stuffed Green Peas Paratha
Hari Matar ka Paratha is a winter delicacy. When there is abundance of green peas in the Gangetic and Northern areas, people tend to make various dishes of green peas. It is cherished by majority.
Yet there are some people like my husband, who don't cherish green peas dishes that much, Nimona is an exception!
Today I made this simple paratha using only cumin and hing as spices and adding garlic, green chillies and green coriander or cilantro later. Coarsely grounded in Mortar and Pestle and shallow fried in sumptuous oil to get the crispy karare Parathas. Lunch sorted.
Ingredients:
1-Green Peas-200 gm. (I used frozen)
2- Green chillies-5
3- Garlic-4
4-Coriander leaves-4 tsp.
5-Salt
6- Oil
7-Whole wheat flour dough
8- Cumin-1 tsp.
Method:
* In a pressure cooker, heat 1 tsp. Of oil, here I used mustard oil.
*When smoky hot, add cumin and 1 pinch hing, add green peas and salt.
* Add a little water and cover the lid and pressure cook till 2 whistles.
*De pressurize and then open the lid.
*Make a coarse paste of peas and coriander leaves, garlic and green chillies.
* Make balls of these and stuff in flour dough, roll and shallow fry on a girdle or Tawa.
* Serve hot with your choice of condiments.
*Some people love it with curry vegetables but I like it as such.
