Lehsuni Palak Dal





Palak Dal is a little runny preparation which is appealing to the taste buds and light on stomach.  Palak paneer is not the only preparation of spinach which is delicious,  Dal, Palak kofta, saag aalu and few other dishes add variety to your dining table.
Mom often used to cook Palak Dal, Palak kadhi, Hari matar ki dal, hare chane ki kadhi and those dishes I rarely see these days.
So, after a long time,  cooked lehsuni Palak Dal and masala Missi Roti and served with kachumar Raita.


INGREDIENTS:

1. Spinach  1 bunch
2. Tomato 🍅  1 skin removed
3. Onion  🧅  2 finely chopped
4. Ginger grated-1 tsp.
5. Garlic cloves 3
6. Coriander powder  1 heaped tsp.
7. Red chilli 🌶 powder  1/2 tsp.
8. Salt
9. Kasoori methi  1 tsp.
10. Desi ghee for tadka
11. Water 1 cup approx 
12. Oil 3 tbsp.

METHOD:

1. Clean, wash and blanch spinach.
2. Cool and blend .
3. Heat oil in a pot and add 1 bay leaf and then chopped onion.
4. Saute till light brown.
5. Add chopped tomato and spices, grated ginger and salt.
6. When oil separates,  add blended spinach.
7. Cover and cook on low medium flame till spinach and masala are well fried, oil should be on surface. 
8. Add water and kasoori methi and give a boil.
9. Heat ghee in a tadka pan and add chopped garlic, fry till pink, add 1/2 tsp. Chilli powder or kashmiri chili powder. 
10. Pour on top of dal, serve with chapati or rice.  I served this with Missi roti and rice.
