1- 7-8 bunches of spinach(cut,cleaned and washed)
2- 1 cup basmati rice soaked for at least 1/2 an hour
3- 3 tbsp. oil
4- 1/2 finely chopped onion
5- 1 bay leaf
6- 3 cloves,2 black cardamom and 1 trp. cumim(grind in a coffee grinder)
7-salt and water according to taste and need respectively


1-Heat oil in a vessel,add bayleaf and finely chopped onion.
2-Saute till onion turns pink,add ground masala and chopped spinach,stir till water out of spinach gets dry(approx. 10 minutes).
3-Add rice and stir for a couple of moments,add salt and water and cook till rice is done,it should not get mushy.
4-Serve with any gravy meat,chicken or vegetable.
